turbo- because a super charger is belt driven and you might not have the room.

yeah definitely a turbo charger , i would think a supercharger on that size engine might draw alot of power compared to what youd gain ....

turbo is really nice, add a front mount intercooler and intake.. then a turbo back exhaust... mmmmm SEXY.. also look into the Miata clubs.. also, see what engine mods you would need, can a stock motor take the sudden increase in power? might have to add/replace crucial internals before doing that.. dont want a 6000 (+/- a few HP) hp miata with a blown motor

Turbo Kits are better, but for an older engine, a supercharger is better.
Turbochargers are recommended for cars with less than 60,000 miles. |

The 1.8 is better for putting out power, but the 1.6 can still do the job. You can double the horsepower with an Fyin Miata kit and some dyno hours. A Jackson Racing supercharger is an awesome option that is easy to drive on the street. The little B16 engine can handle a decent amount of boost on stock internals, so if all out power is what you want then build a decent turbo setup, with an intercooler and 3" mandrel bent exhaust. Hope this makes the decision easier and good luck.

A Monster Miata can be built for just about the same price as the Jackson Super Charger, and maybe even the Flying Miata turbo set up.
So it you want only speed, think about that route. As for me, I don't want to upset the balance that the Miata already has built in. So I go turbo. You can install a turbo for less then the Flying Miata, but you had better do some research first. It takes more then a bolt on header, turbo charger and exhaust to make a turbo system work right. RE: what is better for my mazda miata a turbocharger or a supercharger?
Definitely turbochargers...
The benefit of a turbo is that it compresses a greater mass of intake air into the combustion chamber, thereby resulting in increased efficiency. In contrast to turbochargers, superchargers are not powered by exhaust gases but driven by the engine mechanically. Thus, a turbocharger does not place a direct mechanical load on the engine and it is more efficient as it uses kinetic energy of the exhaust gas to drive the compressor. Steering Rack |
